Born and raised in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City, Anya Firestone built her career around a fascination with how art, philosophy, fashion, and cultural history can be understood through one another. Drawn early to the intellectual life of France, she pursued a Masters in French Cultural Studies at Columbia University, focusing on 19th-century Decadent literature and aesthetic philosophy, a foundation that continues to shape her cultural approach today.
She began her career at the intersection of art and storytelling, writing philosophy features for Highsnobiety Magazine that examined the role of art in contemporary fashion. She later served as Head of Curation for the Fabergé Big Egg Hunt, New York City’s largest public art exhibition, coordinating a citywide installation featuring more than 250 artists. From there, she became Senior Director of a prominent New York design gallery, curating exhibitions internationally and working closely with artists, interior designers, collectors, and cultural institutions.
Over the past decade in Paris, Firestone has developed Maison Firestone as a platform for cultural experiences, private access, and creative collaboration rooted in scholarship, narrative, and a deep knowledge of the city’s artistic and historical life. Her work sits at the meeting point of interpretation and access.
Firestone holds a Master’s degree from Columbia University in French Cultural Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Art History and English from The George Washington University. She is an award-winning writer and the recipient of a branding prize judged by Ogilvy & Mather on storytelling through experiential marketing and copywriting. Her work and events were also featured on the Bravo television series Real Girlfriends in Paris, which followed her Cou-Tours and cultural programming in the city, with the aim of bringing art and cultural history to a wider American audience. Her published writing and cultural essays can be explored in the selected writings section of this site.
